Marc Marquez, who has had a dominant start to the MotoGP season with wins in both the Thailand and Argentinian Grands Prix so far, has been likened to seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton.
Addressing the "nice" links, Marquez explained ahead of the Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas at COTA:
"He also changed home this year, and he jumped on a red car and he already got a good result in the sprint in China. For me it is a pleasure to be put together with Lewis Hamilton, he is not only a great driver, he is a superstar.
"We have different styles of course, but it's always nice to be juxtaposed with great athletes, regardless of what sport they belong to."
After an 11-year stint with the Honda factory team beginning in 2013, the Spanish rider moved to Ducati's satellite team, Gresini, in 2024. This year is his season with the Ducati Lenovo Team.
Similarly to the six-time MotoGP champion, Hamilton has joined the Ferrari F1 team this year after 12 years with Mercedes. The move is substantial for the British driver, as his entire career in the sport since his debut in 2007 has been linked with the Brackley outfit in some way or another. He entered the sport with McLaren, powered by Mercedes powertrains, in 2007 before moving to the Toto Wolff-led squad in 2013, replacing Michael Schumacher. Now, starts from scratch at Ferrari, learning their cars, their processes, and even their language.

Marquez is closely followed in the championship by his brother, Alex Marquez, who has finished second in both of the opening races. When asked if the battle with his brother will be psychologically difficult, the Ducati driver explained:
"I've always said it, I don't believe in psychological warfare, and I know my brother well. The best psychological warfare, the best way to win, is to be fast on the track. It has always been like that, in the past as in the present.
"You can be a real politician in words but if you don't find the results on the track there is no war. With Alex as brother, everyone has his own team and does his own job, then it is clear that it happens that we exchange opinions but this does not affect and everyone gives 100% on track." [sic]
