The Circuit of the Americas welcomes MotoGP for its third round of the season, and with it, a brand new trophy for the winner of the Red Bull Grand Prix of Americas.
Since it first gained a spot on the MotoGP calendar in 2013, COTA has presented a number of incredible and individual trophies. For the inaugural race, for example, both COTA and Red Bull revealed trophies created by "Texan artisans." They were made using local materials, with the design stemming from "the love and uniqueness of the Lone Star State, its rich Western heritage and its important role in American history."
The 2025 trophy is set to bring this level of creativity, albeit with a more modernised design.
The championship heading into COTA
Three races in, Ducati's Marc Marquez heads into the American race after dominating the start of the season. Leading the championship by 16 points over his brother, Alex Marquez, the rider looks to continue his winning streak. With a strong history at COTA, it looks like Marc Marquez will likely be increasing his 74 points tally this coming weekend.

“We arrive in Austin after two practically perfect weekends, especially the first in Thailand,” the older Marquez brother said ahead of the race weekend. “COTA is a track where I have always managed to be fast, even last year when I was here for the first time on the Ducati. A physically demanding track and in terms of riding too where I have won a lot.
“We must stay focused, not make mistakes, take care of the details and work hard with the whole Team to be competitive.”
Winning the first race in 2013, the Spaniard continued in his success, winning through to 2018.
Above this, the track has given us some of the most exciting racing in recent history. 2024 saw Maverick Viñales take the win, the first rider to win with three different constructors, and he did so after qualifying 11th.
The MotoGP circus arrives in Austin for GearUp on 27 March, with the MotoGP race taking place on the Sunday at 2:00pm track time.
