SLOVAKIARING, 28 April 2012: Qualifying for the first ever WTCC races in Slovakia proved a tough challenge for the Chevrolet Cruzes with Yvan Muller, Rob Huff and Alain Menu placing 6th, 7th and 9th on the starting grid respectively.

Warm weather and an exciting qualifying session provided the perfect setting for the multitude of fans who turned up at the Slovakiaring, near Bratislava.

The numerous corners of varying radius at this technical, long and fast track posed a number of challenges in terms of set-up and tire stress. The RML run Cruzes did not have an easy Q2 and the Chevrolet drivers will have to battle it up from the second half of the top 10 cars. Hungarian BMW driver Norbert Michelisz will start Race 1 on pole.

Reverse grid positions for the second race means Alain Menu will start Race 2 from the front row, with Huff on the second row and Muller on the third.

The races tomorrow will be Races 7 and 8 in the WTCC calendar. Chevrolet currently leads the Manufacturers’ standings by 105 points. The three Chevrolet drivers occupy the top spots in the Drivers’ standings.
