Line’s “Bracket Racer” Will Start Second in Seattle

Summit Racing Pro Stock driver Jason Line delivered another tremendous qualifying performance on Saturday, earning the second starting position for Sunday’s final eliminations of the NHRA Northwest Nationals in Kent, Wash. In each of the four sessions at Pacific Raceways, Line posted an elapsed time that was among the best of 15 cars attempting to qualify, highlighted by his 6.538-second, 211.06 mph best on this third attempt on Saturday morning.

This is the sixth time in the Full Throttle Drag Racing season’s 14 races that Line has started second, and third time that he and stablemate Greg Anderson have teamed to capture the top two starting spots, a showing that has the 2008 Seattle winner understandably excited heading into race day.

“In my four attempts, I went 6.548, 6.547, 6.538 and 6.540, so I would say my Summit Racing Pontiac is pretty well dialed in,” said Line. “No other car has been that good so far this weekend, so I’m stoked heading into tomorrow. The guys on this KB Racing crew are doing a great job, and best of all, I’ve been able to run well in both lanes, so we should be in good shape no matter which side we race on.

“All in all, things have gone very well this weekend, and we hope to keep it going heading into tomorrow. I want to thank the guys in the engine department, as well as everyone else on the team for giving me back my hot rod. Without sounding overconfident or cocky, I’m excited about our chances for race day. It’s been too long since I’ve won, and I’d certainly like to rectify that tomorrow.”
