ISPORT LOOKING TO FINISH THE SEASON ON A HIGH
iSport will be one of the 13 teams taking part in the GP2 finale this weekend at the Yas Island Circuit, with Marcus Ericsson and GP3 graduate Tom Dillmann taking to the iSport cars.
Both will be competing against 26 other GP2 drivers in the stand alone event, with Pirelli rewarding the first and second highest finishing GP3 drivers in the feature race and/or sprint race prize money.
Richard Selwin - Chief Engineer for Tom Dillmann
“We hope to carry forward all the good work achieved in Jerez and Barcelona. Tom has been making good use of our simulator, and we did a track inspection on Wednesday so that when Tom hits the track tomorrow, he will have built up a good knowledge of the Yas Marina circuit. The high winds should drop tomorrow with conditions hot and dusty. The track will evolve each time the cars run so the lap times will drop as each session progresses.
Gavin Bickerton Jones – Chief Engineer for Marcus Ericsson
“Marcus will be pushing for pole position and going for a Feature Race win, to get into the correct frame of mind for a full championship assault next year. We are changing our approach slightly on how we run the free practice, and to better prepare for qualifying. It will all be building blocks for next season. Abu Dhabi is a very smooth track with average grip levels. The 3rd sector is very important to get right for a good lap time as it sweeps under the Yas hotel, so good mechanical grip is important.”
With four wins and two poles in the past at the Yas Marina circuit for iSport, the team is hopeful that they will carry this good form to the Finale event.
