Johnny Cecotto and Jake Rosenzweig both looking to finish on a high note.
This weekend the GP2 series 2012 comes to a close for this season, at the last event of the championship, on the Singapour Street circuit. Both the driver’s and the team title are still up for grabs. Barwa Addax Team, and drivers Johnny Cecotto and Jake Rosenzweig are hoping to finish the season off with a good result in what has been a very complicated championship for the reigning and defending team champions from last year.
Johnny Cecotto, wants a repeat of his better performances this season which include 4 podium finishes, made up of two great victories and two second places. However, it has not been all roses for him as he has been involved in so many unfortunate incidents, the majority not of his making. He would surely have been fighting for the championship in normal circumstances. The work carried out between driver and Barwa Addax Team, has not gone unnoticed and it has been an opportunity for him to demonstrate that he has the ability and capacity to drive in F1 in the near future.
Jake Rosenzweig is eager and full of hope after a good debut in Italy. He would like the opportunity to consolidate his position in this class. He is still getting to know the characteristics of the car and team, something which must be doubly difficult for him considering he has no experience of the car, tyres, set up, etc. The young brave American driver will be seeing this extremely difficult circuit for the first time and here there is no margin for error.
This weekend’s timetable. Friday 21st, 16.45 Free practice. 20.00 Qualification. Saturday 22nd, the first race starts at 16.00 and will be raced over 34 laps covering a distance of 172.482 Kms. Sunday 23rd, the second race will be competed for over 23 laps at the 5,073 metre circuit at 16.10 horas. All of the times are local time in Singapour, GMT + 8
Johnny Cecotto, official Barwa Addax Team driver: “We had a great weekend in Monza and I would like to finish the championship with a great result in Singapore. I have never raced here before but I think none of the other driver has either but it seems like an amazing track, just the kind of track which suites me a lot. It looks like it's very similar to Monaco and just as difficult.”
Jake Rosenzweig, driver of Barwa Addax Team: “I’m really excited and grateful for the opportunity that Alejandro Agag, and the Barwa Addax Team have given me. Also a special mention to my sponsors especially Netjets, to allow me to compete in these last two weekends of the championship. This has given me the chance to get to know the class a little better and get an idea about my future prospects. For now we are all very satisfied with the work carried out in Monza and we are convinced that we can improve on this and develop even more in Singapour, although the circuit is incredibly complicated.”
