London, UK – Tom Blomqvist came away from another frustrating weekend at his team’s home race at Vallelunga in Italy.
Having tested at the track with EuroInternational earlier in the year, Blomqvist was hoping that they would have accumulated enough data to help find the pace needed to race with the leaders.A disastrous qualifying for all three races left the Red Bull Junior starting 21st, 16th and 22nd. Blomqvist did however manage to have some great battles during the races albeit it at the back of the pack, moving up nine spots in Race 1 and eight in Race 3. The end result was 12th, 12th and 14th, which now puts the 19-year-old seventh in the championship standings with 138.5 points.
“Not much to say really, an unbelievably difficult weekend,” admitted Blomqvist. “We struggled with the car right from the start and the only thing I can say is that I was able to work on my race craft, overtaking quite a few people, having some good battles but unfortunately it was at the wrong end of the field.
We should be fighting at the front. The guys are going to have a good look at the car but unfortunately we only have a few days before Hockenheim, very little time to do anything. Still, we will keep our heads down and keep pushing and hopefully we can end the season on a high.”
