Monterey, California – May 10, 2012 – Conquest Endurance will begin on track activities today for the American Le Mans Monterey Presented by Patron, round three of the 2012 ALMS Season. After coming off an impressive showing in Long Beach where the team had a runner-up finish in the P2 category, leading the most laps and setting the fastest race lap, the Conquest squad will take part of this weekend’s six-hour race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in only its third every endurance race.

Regular Conquest drivers Martin Plowman and David Heinemeier Hansson will be joined this weekend by ex-formula 1 driver Antonio Pizzonia who will compete in his first ever sportscar race. The trio will have a chance today to test their P2 Morgan-Nissan machine around the 2.238-mile track and prepare to take on the largest P2 field so far this year in ALMS. During today’s 1h30min practice session Plowman will be behind the wheel of the #37 Conquest machine first, followed by Heinemeier Hansson and Pizzonia will finish the driver rotation.

Martin Plowman Driver #37 Conquest Endurance / Morgan / Nissan Dunlop “I’ve never been to Laguna Seca I my life before but thanks to iRacing I feel like I’ve been here many times, I’ve probably logged about a million laps here in the simulator so I think I’ll feel at home in the track. After Long Beach we are really eager to make amends and once again show what we can do. We have a very strong car and adding Antonio (Pizzonia) this weekend really gives us a realistic shot at the win.”

David Heinemeier Hansson Driver #37 Conquest Endurance / Morgan / Nissan Dunlop “I loved racing at Laguna last year in the IMSA GT3 Challenge. It’s a wonderful track and one that I think uniquely plays to the strengths of our Morgan-Nissan car with all the medium speed third and fourth gear corners. And with all the small issues that kept us from taking a deserved win at Long Beach, our goals is no doubt the top step of the podium.”

Antonio Pizzonia Driver #37 Conquest Endurance / Morgan / Nissan Dunlop “I’m really looking forward to working with Conquest Endurance this weekend. It will be my first experience with this car and also with this type of racing but I have experience in many categories, which will be helpful in this situation. And I know that I will certainly have help from my teammates to get used to everything over the weekend so that we can have a strong race.”
