If you’re in the market for a piece of Formula 1 history, the race suit worn by Max Verstappen during the 2023 Miami Grand Prix is up for auction. The signed suit, which is likely infused with the unique stench of two-year-old sweat and champagne, will be sold by F1 Authentics to benefit Red Bull’s partner charity, Wings for Life.
The non-profit research foundation, which was established by two-time motocross world champion Heinz Kinigadner and the late Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz, is aiming to find a cure for spinal cord injury.
“We’re happy to be supporting our partner charity, Wings for Life, with this F1 Authentics auction of Max’s race suit from his Miami GP race win in 2023,” Christian Horner said in a statement. “The research that Wings for Life funds is crucial to finding a cure for spinal cord injury and so we are proud that 100% of proceeds from this auction will go directly to that cause.”
Andrew Wagner, CEO Wings for Life USA said he thanked Verstappen for “making a difference and for being a true champion, both in racing and in life.”
The suit was worn shortly after the Dutchman claimed his second world title, and embarked on a record-breaking season that ended in his third world championship. 2023 was the most successful year for any F1 driver in history, with Verstappen claiming 19 out of 22 race wins.
Fans and collectors can now bid on the Max Verstappen 2023 Signed Miami GP Race Used Suit at f1authentics.com. The auction will run until May 6, 2025.
