COLOGNE, September 23rd, 2005. Team Ford Hotfiel Sport turns its attention to the forthcoming FIA WTCC round at Valencia (2 October)..

It is one of the few tracks where the team can rely on first-hand information to help prepare its Ford Focus RS WTCC cars.

Thomas Klenke drove a 2004-specification Focus there in the FIA ETCC round last year. The Ford was a former Hotfiel car from Germany's DTC touring car series and in Valencia it was engineered by Hotfiel's Technical Director Bernd Meyer.

"The cornering speeds of the Spanish track make it very difficult to hit the best possible gear ratios," Meyer remembered. "It should work in our favour that we can use the data gathered last year as a basis for this year's race rather than having to start afresh like at most of the other circuits."

Klenke added: "While the track isn't really difficult to learn from a driver's point of view, it certainly still helps that I've been there before. You'd normally need 15 minutes to really find out all the important decisive details of any new track that make all the difference between a solid and a fast lap. This time is then lost for any proper work on the set-up. Since I know my way around Valencia, we can start fine-tuning the car immediately."
