Tiago Monteiro and SEAT Sport are testing at Estoril

Tiago Monteiro returned to the Estoril circuit for a day of tests scheduled with SEAT Sport , his team in the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), which kicks off at the end of this month at Curitiba, Brazil. It was a chance for the Portuguese driver to make an important step in his adaptation to the SEAT Leon TDI and in determining the settings for the car in which he will participate in the World Championship.

Tiago's work was more intense in the afternoon, when the track was dry. So he was able to test new shock absorbers that gave him some good sensations and which held some nice surprises for him and his team. At the end of the day, Tiago was satisfied with the development of the SEAT Leon TDI and his adaptation to the new car, whose characteristics are very different from the petrol version he drove last year. "This new car is 80 kilograms heavier than the petrol Leon and so it's handling is very different," Tiago declared. "Also, the FIA has forbidden SEAT from using the flat bottom, which means a specific handling in the fast corners. But we are on the right track and everything indicates that our results are positive. I also think that it is the subject preoccupying the other teams."

Tiago's agenda at Estoril also included getting in touch with the use of the diesel engine, which differs from the petrol engine in its operational curve.

Throughout the day, Tiago was in contact with his fans who had the pleasure of being able to take pictures and ask for autographs.

Tiago Monteiro's next test sessions with the SEAT Leon TDI are planned for the Albacete circuit in Spain.
