GOLDEN MOTORS REJOIN IN GERMANY
The Golden Motors team from Russia, will rejoin the championship at the end of August, for the next race meeting at Oschersleben.
They will make their third appearance, having already taken part in the events of Valencia and Brno. Andrey Smetsky and Alexander Lvov will take the wheel of the team's Honda Accord Euro R cars. Afterwards they will also participate in the two following meetings at Imola and Monza. The best result claimed by the Russian duo so far in the season was Lvov's fourth place in the Independents' Trophy in Valencia's Race 2.
PODIUM FOR MENU IN ARGENTINA
Chevrolet's Alain Menu has claimed his fourth podium result on his fourth appearance at the Buenos Aires 200 Km race, eighth round of the Argentine TC2000 championship.
The Swiss driver finished the race in third position at the wheel of a Chevrolet Astra car he shared with former TC2000 champion Cristian Ledesma. The competition was very close; after one hour and 24 minutes Jose Maria Lopez and Anthony Reid crossed the line first in their Honda Civic with a 2.1second margin ahead of the sister car of Juan Manuel Silva-Leonel Ugalde, while Menu-Ledesma finished a further nine tenths adrift.
Menu's WTCC team-mate Robert Huff was classified sixth, together with Marcelo Bugliotti. This result enabled Ledesma to climb to third position in the TC2000 Drivers' championship.
GLOBAL EXPANSION FOR VIRTUAL WTCC
The V-WTCC, virtual version of the World Touring Car Championship, is expanding beyond Europe. Although most of its competitors are still from European countries and all the series' events are held in the Old Continent, a few overseas participants have joined.
At the first event at Valencia, Brazil's Gabriel Bechtold qualified for the Semi-Finals, while Jason Pitts from the United States of America and Tony Gonzalez from the Canary Islands competed in Brands Hatch in the latest round.
Bastien Bartsch from France won the Semi-Final race in England and the V-WTCC, and is now heading to Oschersleben for its fourth round. The fifth and last Semi-Final round will be held at Mantorp Park, Sweden, on September 27th during the Swedish Touring Car Championship's final meeting.
Winners of the Semi-Final rounds will then meet in Monza for the V-WTCC grand finale.
