N.TECHNOLOGY TESTING HINDERED BY RED FLAGS
Thanks to Porto's status as a new circuit on the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) calendar this weekend, N.Technology Alfa Romeo beneficiated from a crucial 30-minutes testing session today.
The Italian team used the allocated time wisely, despite enduring yellow flags on most laps as well as the session being red-flagged halfway through, and concentrated on trying out various set-ups. With both drivers completing 20 laps between themselves, today's test provided essential data on Porto's street circuit ahead of this weekend's racing.
Preferring to focus on learning the track, Britain's James Thompson posted a fastest time of 2:15.221 with rookie Olivier Tielemans completing the 4.72km lap in 2:20.554.
James Thompson, car number 15
"It was very difficult to post a fast lap this afternoon with so many yellow flags. I had to slow down on pretty much every single lap which doesn't help setting a fast time. The car feels good but it's a shame about the session being stopped; things like that tend to break the momentum."
Olivier Tielemans, car number 16
"This afternoon was very much about learning the track, feeling how the car is in each corner and finding the limit. I was very careful though as I didn't want to risk a crash. We're now going to analyse all our data and see if we can find a good set-up for tomorrow."
