O’Young sets sight on tying career best record at Hungaroring

Darryl O’Young is ready for the only back-to-back WTCC race weekends this season

(2 May 2013, Hong Kong, China) Preparing for the only back-to-back World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) race weekend of the season in Hungary, Hong Kong top race car driver Darryl O’Young is looking to tie his career-best record of scoring points in eight straight rounds, when he takes his BMW 320 TC to Hungaroring later this week.

During his first three full WTCC seasons, O’Young once managed to score points in eight straight rounds over the span of five different races back in 2011. The 33-year-old claimed his season first independent podium last week in Slovakia, and if he is able to pick up where he left off, the ROAL Motorsport driver has every chance to win the independent class in Hungary, or at the very least, to grab a spot on the podium, something he has achieved on this track in his sophomore season.

This weekend will be Darryl’s third visit to the all-famous Hungaroring during his WTCC times. The famous track, which is located 20 kilometers North-East of Budapest, is home to the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix since 1986. Drivers will compete on this 4.381 kilometers track for two 12-lap races this weekend.

O’Young has scored 25 points thus far this season, and is ranking top four in the Yokohama Drivers’ Trophy standing.
