Muennich Motorsport with three top ten rankings in Marrakesh

Friedersdorf/Marrakesh (rol/ot) The German Team ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport from Friedersdorf showed a good performance again after the good season access into the FIA World Touring Car Championship about two weeks ago in Monza (Italy).

Last weekend (06 th/07th of April) they had three rankings in the points at the second season event of the WTCC in Morocco. The racing stable from Friedersdorf (Saxony) was on start on the city course in Marrakesh for the first time with the three Seat Léon.

The team principal and racing stable owner René Münnich (Friedersdorf) finished on position 15 in that race. At the second race he discarded because of a damaged tire just like Rob Huff. At the drivers ranking of the WTCC, Marc Basseng (team manager of ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport same time) kept his seventh position with 28 points now.

Rob Huff with 19 points is two positions behind him. At the Yokohama Teams’ Trophy the racing stable from Saxony is still on position three.

Winners of the races in Marrakesh, which were affected by Safety Car Phases after a few accidents, have been the Danish Michel Nykjaer (Chevrolet Cruze) and the Spanish Pepe Oriola (Seat Léon).

"In Marrakesh, we showed again that we are on the right way", team principal René Münnich said. "We gathered the most points of all the Seat cars and we are also happy about the first season win for Seat by Pepe Oriola, congratulations."

And team manager Marc Basseng added: "This was a solid performance, we had good speed and what an amazing manner, we are really close to the Chevrolet cars already as the newbies. It is very sad that Rob and René were unlucky at the second race."

As anticipated, not only the temperatures with 25° C on track at the city course were hot, but the duels as well. Münnich pilot Rob Huff, who started on position seven at the first race, fought about position four with the former world champion and overall front runner Yvan Muller (France/Chevrolet) during the first three laps and finished on position five in the end.

And Marc Basseng, who started on position eight, has also been in between the top ten of the field on position seven. Rene Münnich was able to make up five positions coming from starting position 22.

At the second run, the team principal damaged his tire on position 15 because of wreckage on track and then he had to resign at the fourth lap. Rob Huff, who was already on position three coming from starting position four, ended the race already two laps earlier.

Things worked out better for Marc Basseng, who started from position three and was on four almost until the half of the race, but then had to give up one position yet.

"A city course is not the easiest terrain for a newbie in a new car, but in the end we showed a good performance", Basseng explained, who had the third fastest lap time at this race out of all drivers.

"Now we hope for the Slovakia Ring in about three weeks. We know this track from the GT1 championship last year very well. We had good results on that track and maybe we can finish a bit more at the front of the field at the WTCC because of that."
