Starting from the front row of the grid, the Honda Civic # 18 driver added: "Anything can happen."
Tiago Monteiro and the Honda Civic are the highlights of this weekend's third round of the FIA World Touring car Championship, WTCC on the Slovakia Ring, the Portuguese driver securing the second fastest time in both rounds of qualifying to start second on the grid for race one. Due to reverse grid rule, Tiago will start race two from ninth place.
With Norbert Michelisz securing third place, Honda has achieved a historic one-two-three in Slovakia and the Japanese marque is now looking to translate this superb performance into solid race results.
"I am very happy, this result shows that the whole team has done a remarkable job in developing the car," said Monteiro. "Honda fills the top three places and we can all be congratulated for getting here together.
My thanks to everyone in the team, JAS Motorsport and Honda, for giving me such an effective and great car to drive."
Tiago was thrilled to be fighting his teammate all the way to the chequered flag for the team's first pole position of the season... "We were all very competitive this weekend on a circuit that is more conventional than the first two of the season," he continued. "It's great to be fighting with my teammate, because Gabriele is one of the most experienced drivers in this championship class."
Starting from the front row of the grid, the Honda Civic # 18 driver added... "Anything can happen. It will be difficult to take the lead at the start, but I'll do my best. I am certain that both races will be very interesting. The second will be more difficult, but I am convinced that we can still get a good result."
