World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) racer James Nash’s produced two more of his trademark hard charging drives in Sundays two World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) races at Suzuka in japan, but it still wasn’t enough to make an impact on the overall results.
In race one Nash finished 15th on the road from a P21 grid start and the second in 16th from a P19 grid start. In both races Nash and his Team Aon teammate probably passed more cars in their Ford Focuses than the rest of the field combined, but such is the very close level of competition in the WTCC the ultimate results were largely meaningless with the only luck coming the Milton Keynes-based driver’s way being hard luck.
James Nash: “ The first race was compromised anyway by having to start at the back because of an engine change, but if we’d qualified better than we did we might have had chance of a top 10 and championship points in the second.”
“ We’ve not been able to get the car handling to my liking all weekend and that hurt us in qualifying particularly in the second sector with all the twisty stuff.
I tried my best and got the maximum I could out of the car but we now need to sit down and sift through the data to see what we can find the time that will help improve things for next time.”
“ The two races were action packed, one minute I was attacking and the next I was looking in my mirrors and defending my position. Hopefully, we can be fighting further up the grid in China because being towards the back of field is not where either me or the team want to be.”
The penultimate event of this season’s WTCC takes place on Shanghai’s International Circuit in China on 3rd and 4th November.
