REALLY READY FOR ESTORIL!

Dear Friends,

Estoril round is getting closer and my BMW, as you would have probably seen in the photograph, is now ready for the Portuguese event.

Joking apart, the load (I mean the ballast) will be a new experience for me and, as usual, without half-measures, I went from pole to pole.

This weekend I will carry around 48Kg of handicap weight that will not help, but as we could see during Monza's tests, they are not an incurable disease either.

My personal opinion is that this year ballast is less a problem that what it used to be, for a lot of technical reasons mainly connected with tyres and setup choices, therefore I am moderately confident for the weekend.

It will be crucial to be within the first ten (or very close) in qualifying: with a careful first race I might have, if I will arrive within the first eight, the chance to get a surprising result in race two. After the first laps, the lower tyre wearing, one of the strengths of our car, could allow us to be in front of a lot of opponents if not in front of all of them. And should it not go as at Brno, well it will mean that in the next race we will carry one mattress less on the roof!

I finish by sending my compliments to Roberto Ravaglia and all the guys of the team that yesterday took on track for the first time the new BMW M3 that will debut in the Superstars championship at the end of August (you can see the pictures at the website www.roal-motorsport.com). A great good luck goes to my fellow citizen and friend Luca Rangoni that will drive it in its debut at Varano.

See you soon.
