BMW ITALY-SPAIN'S GREAT EXPECTATIONS FOR BRNO RACE AND INTEREST FOR ROAL MOTORSPORT IN THE NEW N.T07 CHAMPIONSHIP
30 August 2006 - After the summer break the World Touring Car Championship will be back this weekend at the Czech Republic circuit of Brno.
The two BMW Team Italy-Spain official drivers, Alessandro Zanardi and Duncan Huisman, alternated themselves in two practice days last week at Vallelunga's track with the purpose to refine the last details for the incoming racing weekend. In two days a 750km long programme was completed with best laps of 1'43.0 for the Italian champion and 1'43.2 for the Dutch one. The job performed last week gives all ROAL Motorsport men the right confidence and optimism to face Brno race with the purpose to pull both cars on the podium.
However, all the staff thoughts will not only be focused on WTCC during this racing weekend. The new N.T07 championship has been presented this week and ROAL Motorsport is considering the chance to take part to this championship with two cars next season.
"Zanardi and Huisman did a great job in Vallelunga last week, they performed a lot of laps without particular problems and scored very good lap times. Moreover, we do not have any handicap weight on board at Brno and if we consider that the Czech circuit has always been suitable for BMW cars we cannot be anything but optimistic for the next race. About the new N.T07 championship? Well, we are considering the chance to prepare two cars for it. This will not change our plans for WTCC and our commitment with this series will continue for the whole 2007 season as well. In the next few weeks we will carefully evaluate this intriguing chance before making the final decision".
