ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport obtained a great debut at the Autodromo di Monza

Friedersdorf/Monza (rol/ot) The German Team ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport from Friedersdorf had a great debut at the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).
Only a tenth of a second was missing for the first podium placing on Sunday (24th of March) in Monza (Italy) for the racing stable from Saxony.
The GT1 world champion almost caught the local hero Gabriele Tarquini in a Honda Civic after two hard fought last laps. When the former champion Yvan Muller (France/Chevrolet Cruze) won both races, the team colleague of Basseng, Rob Huff from Great Britain being the acting WTCC champion, showed a furious catch up race from the end of the field.
He finished in between the top ten twice, on position six and ten. The team principal René Münnich (Friedersdorf/both Seat Léon) finished on position 16 and 21.
"We started into the World Touring Car Championships well thanks to our intensive preparation. Nobody could have known in advance that we almost got a podium placing already at the season opening“, René Münnich said.
"The team did an excellent job." Münnich started into the races from position 16 and 17, but he had the handicap that he was pushed off track at the Qualifying.
And at the second race he had to drive into the pit, because the window was totally fogged due to a damaged fan. The weekend almost ended early for the world champion Rob Huff as well after a collision at the Qualifying, but the British made his way up front again and placed after two races tenth in the drivers championship.
Three positions ahead him there is Marc Basseng, who started into the races from position seven and two. At the first run, where he was on position six interim, a drive through penalty prevented everything better than position 14.
"At the three minute phase before the start my car was jacked up five or six seconds too long", the team manager explained. "But the good placing at the Qualifying was surprising for me. And at the races everything worked out, even under these hard conditions – you couldn’t see anything.
I rarely experienced something like that so far. I had a great fight with Gabriele and I am really happy about the fourth position“, Basseng said, who initially was second and up to the half time of the race third.
Right after the two runs on Sunday, the crew of ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport prepared the three Seat Léon in Monza for the next season event in Morocco already.
The event is scheduled for 6th and 7th of April and the race will be on the city course in Marrakesh. One week earlier at the Easter weekend, the team principal René Münnich is already on duty again at the season opening of the Rallycross European Championship in England.
