January usually coincides with the resumption of on track work for teams. This year, together with the other BMW Teams and Chevrolet, we made things in a big way: four days of tests that involved us since last Monday at Estoril. This was an occasion to take away some of the "rust" accumulated during the winter by drivers. But with all kilometres scored I bet we took away some metal too!

I am not completely satisfied by the outcome of tests, especially during the first days in which I scored relatively slow laps without having a very good feeling with the car. The situation gradually improved and at the end of tests we found the right setup that allowed me to sensibly decrease the gap with front drivers. I hoped to use a new set of tyres in the last laps to decrease further my times but a problem with the differential, that had already reached its maximum lifespan, did not allow me to lap.

This was my first exit with the 2007 car. My 2008 BMW 320si WTCC is virtually ready: though it can look like identical to the previous one, in a very tight championship like ours, even small details can make a huge difference. In the next tests we will surely get an idea on how many steps forward we took.

Goodbye everybody, talk to you soon!
