Loris Baz third
Loris Baz is still leading the Superstock 600 European Championship, thanks to a good third position on the Misano circuit in Italy.
After qualifying in third position, Loris Baz missed his start and was 6th in the first corner. Then he charged to 3rd position at the end of lap 1, behind Vostarek (the Nurburgring winner) and Beretta. In trouble because of another rider, he had to go straight entering a curve (without crashing) and restarted in 5th place. Patrick Vostarek was by then far in front, but Loris could fight with the group looking for the 2nd position. Bussolotti, in second, tried hard to make Loris stay behind him, when Loris had some trouble again because of another dangerous rider. Finally, he could save the 3rd position and the precious points that go with it.
Loris Baz: " The start is usually one of my strong points, but today I was a bit afraid to jump the start. I gained some positions quickly, but I had a wrong rhythm in the group were I was. Biliotti tried to pass me in force, then he straightened his bike to take me out. I could have finished second, but it was hard to overtake Bussolotti. I am happy I passed many riders. My bike was very good. Thanks to the team."
Martial Garcia (team-manager): "I am very happy! Loris is now 12 points in front of Vostarek. He did a very intelligent race. Too bad he was in trouble two times because of another rider. He raced very well, and his fastest lap (new track record) during the race is the proof of it."
FIM Cup Superstock 1000
Pole position for Yamaha
Like in Superbike and in Supersport, a Yamaha is in pole position in the Superstock 1000 category. Michele Pirro was the fastest in front of Giugliano (Suzuki) and Maxime Berger (Honda). Sylvain Barrier (Yamaha) was 21st.
During the Saturday morning free practice session, the leader of the championship Xavier Simeon (Suzuki) broke his collarbone. Nevertheless, he rode the qualifying session in the afternoon and did and outstanding 12th time, so he will start tomorrow on the 3rd row. He will be operated next Monday in Cattolica (near Misano).
