SECOND PODIUM FOR BARRIER
Sylvain Barrier rode a beautiful race in Misano, finishing on the podium in third position. Gregg Black did very well also, finishing 17th starting from 26th on the grid.
The race that was supposed to be on Sunday morning was postponed to the afternoon because of an early crash at the start on the rain. Barrier, starting from 6th, finished brilliantly 3rd after a very good race against top riders. Black did a good job, considering that he is a newcomer in the category. The future looks promising for the rookie team of Michel Garnier.
Gregg Black: "We finally found the right setting. I was more confident with the front of the bike. I had a good start but I got stuck in the middle of the pack. Then I progressed little by little, quietly. Antonelli was behind me, and when he passed me I followed him to catch the riders in front of us, but 9 laps make a short race. I am happy, my lap times were good. It's great for the team. Now I want to score points."
Sylvain Barrier: "I didn't have a good start. I braked late on the outside. Someone hit me and I went wide. I had some problem with the front brakes. I raced against Corti and Giugliano with only 2 laps to go. Then I passed Magnoni and I closed the doors. I am very happy."
Michel Garnier (team owner): "We were leading this morning in the rain, and then there was this red flag. In the afternoon, Sylvain had a great start in the top 5. Sylvain did an intelligent race, he was patient. He took the 3rd position at the right moment. This is a perfect weekend. It's promising for the future in this championship. Gregg did a good race. He needs to learn the class. I expect him to do better starting from Donington."
