FIM Cup Superstock 1000
2ND POSITION ON DAY 1
Sylvain Barrier was the second fastest of the first qualifying practice session. His BMW is really good and the team is working well. This is a good start for the first racing weekend of the season. Michael Savary was 16th with a technical problem and he will do better tomorrow.
The " Garnier Racing Team Junior " is from Brazey en Plaine in Burgundy (France) and was created last winter by entrepreneur Michel Garnier. Its purpose is to enter Sylvain Barrier and Michael Savary on BMWs in the 2010 Superstock 1000 FIM Cup.
Michel Garnier (team owner): "For the first time with a BMW, it has been satisfying, even perfect for Sylvain. The bike is very competitive. Sylvain adapted well. We need to find a better setting for the fork. We hope to qualify well on Saturday. We hope to be on the first row. Michael had a harder time. When he will be more at ease, I hope he will be quicky in the top 10.
Sylvain Barrier is born on October 20, 1988, in Oyonnax (France). In 1999, he moved with his family to the Mauritius Island. In 2003 he was the winner of the Republic of Mauritius 50cc Championship. He raced in continental France the Promosport 1000 (standard bikes) in 2005, with a 2nd place finish at the Circuit Carole for best result. He finished 3rd of the Superstock 600 European Championship in 2006, and in 2007 he was 6th of that championship (2nd at Assen and Brno). Last year, he finished 6th in Magny-Cours and in Portimao in the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup.
Sylvain Barrier: "It was OK. We changed a few things on the chassis. I am globally happy. We have to gain a little bit so we will be better."
Michael Savary: "During these first practice sessions, we had many things to test, including a new fork. We changed the setting of the rear shock. But then the gear lever got stuck. I kept on riding but I couldn't go any faster. Overall, it's a good evolution."
