Day one of Rally Finland completes with a reverse order Super Special stage.
Day one of Rally Finland completes with a reverse order run of Super Special stage Laajavuori, which will be run again on Saturday as the final Power Stage. Petter and Chris had the third fastest time through this last stage of the day, behind Citroën’s Sebastien Loeb and Sebastien Ogier. With the final stage running in reverse order, tomorrow’s road positions were decided on the results of SS2 Laukaa, meaning Loeb will be first car on the road, followed by Mini’s Dani Sordo and then Ford’s Matthew Wilson.
The day was a tough one for Ford’s Mikko Hirvonen who went wide and hit a tree on SS1, leaving him struggling with brake failure and suspension damage for the two remaining stages before the overnight service.
Petter and Chris finish day one in fifth position overall with Sebastien Loeb the overnight leader followed by his team mate Sebastien Ogier
"There is still a long way to go, so I’m happy with the result so far," says Petter Solberg. "Nothing special to report, but will probably make some changes for tomorrow. The rally is far from over."
