Petter Sloberg Seeks Win At Rally Finland

Jyväskylä, Finland

Since the last event-the Acropolis Rally of Greece, the Petter Solberg World Rally Team has been enjoying a well-earned mid-season break. - It was good to have a few weeks off between Greece and Finland, says Petter Solberg. I have spent time just being with my family and of course we have done some cross-karting. I also really enjoyed the flying high experience in Switzerland with Breitling. That was really amazing!

Now that the mid-season break is almost over, the Petter Solberg World Rally Team looks forward to the 8th event of the World Rally Championship, Neste Oil Rally Finland.

For the Team this will begin on Wednesday 27th July from 1930 onwards when the media will be welcomed into the PSWRT Service area for a Fashion Show. The crew members will be on the catwalk modelling the latest PSWRT clothing collection and the function will be catered by FIGARO, the best restaurant in Jyväskylä who will be sending their chefs and staff to take over our kitchen, allowing our guests to sample what this hugely popular restaurant has to offer.

Nicknamed ‘The Grand Prix of Gravel’ this high-speed event has the strongest entry of the season with 125 cars and is a series of fast and flowing smooth gravel stages with big jumps. The average speeds in 2010 were 120kmph so pace notes have to be perfect and the drivers need to place total confidence in their co-drivers.

The event is based in Jyväskylä, the largest city on the Finnish Lakeland, which is 270 kms north of the capital Helsinki. The Service park and Rally HQ are in the Paviljonki Area of the city where there is always an amazing atmosphere thanks to the crowds of people both here and on the stages where many spectators camp out to cheer on the drivers.

Following Shakedown on Thursday morning, the 315kms of stages begin with three stages on Thursday afternoon. Eight stages on Friday are split by a lunchtime remote service in Lahti. The five stages on Saturday morning are repeated after service on Saturday afternoon followed by the final Power Stage which will be broadcast live on TV and offers additional Championship points for the fastest three drivers.

- Finland has always been a great event for me, says Petter Solberg. - I really enjoy the stages, the atmosphere and just being in Jyväskylä. We spent two days of testing in the area, and I hope the 300kms we did will help us get the best possible set up for all the stages.

Neste Oil Rally Finland starts on Thursday 28th July at 1713 local time.
