Inmarsat Star of Rally Award goes to Citroën Team Boss in France

The final day of the Tour de Corse, Citroën's home event, saw the Inmarsat Star of the Rally awarded to a proud Guy Frequelin of Citroën.

The Team Principal was presented the trophy for his consistent demonstration of leadership and professionalism over the course of the 2004 season. With two more rallies to go before the end of the season (Spain and Australia), the French team has already been successful in securing both the manufacturers' and the drivers' championship titles.

This is the second time that Guy (Frequelin) has picked up the Inmarsat Star award this season; in Germany it was awarded to the entire Citroen team for their incredible team spirit.

Nicky Grist, former co-driver and head of the panel of judges said: "Guy (Frequelin) has been an incredible inspiration in World Rally this year. Under his leadership, the team has made the Xsara the most reliable car and they have gone on to achieve a succession of fantastic results to put them so deservedly at the top of the championship."

Guy Frequelin commented on receiving the award: "I'm very proud to receive this award but it's really not for me, it is for all the team because alone I am nothing. I needed everybody in the team to achieve these results and I am very proud of what we have done here and this season."

Citroën's Sebastien Loeb finished Tour de Corse in 2nd position, with Carlos Sainz in 3rd. Ford's Markko Martin won the rally.

Judged by a panel of FIA WRC experts led by Nicky Grist, the Inmarsat Star of the Rally is announced on the final day of each WRC event and rewards an individual or group who truly shines. The award picks out an individual or group who exudes one of the following criteria: Team Spirit, Resilience, Courage, Skill and Inspiration, Commitment.
