Tanak confident M-Sport can get back on track after sinking car in a lake

This morning's scary few moments of uncertainty for M-Sport's Ott Tanak and Raigo Molder has become a brand new challenge for the Ford team.

In an interview with WRC Radio, Ott Tanak said he fully expects the team to have his M-Sport Ford Fiesta fetched from the bottom of the lake he found himself and co-driver sinking in earlier today.

After the incident, which shook the service area as communcation of the condition of both driver and navigator took 17 minutes after telemetry indicated they had stopped on course, the drivers headed back to their hotel to recover from the scary crash.

Despite the severity of the accident, and the car's complete submersion, both Tanak and Molder began preparing for the possibility of getting their submerged but reasonably undamaged car back on dry land.

“We were a bit lucky to get out of that,” admitted Tanak. “Basically I made a small mistake braking into the compression and something broke on the front-right, and that dragged us into the water.

“If we can get the car out from there, then we will see what the damage is, then we can decide. We’d like to continue.”

Dedication from the co-driver!
