Notes: - The first leg of the Swedish Rally belongs to Toyota. The three TTE Corollas and the Celica GT4 of Marcus Gronholm have dominated the field. 4 Toyotas are in the top 7 competitors.

- the event is led by Swede Thomas Rådström in the Corolla and Makinen, a Finn, is second in the Mitsubishi Lancer; the event has never been won by a non-nordic driver. - Rådström won 6 of the days 8 stages - Rådström won the Swedish Rally in 1994 in a Celica GT4

- both McRae and Eriksson have complained about a lack of power

- Richard Burns/Roberts Reid (Mit Carisma) went off the road on SS2 in 4th gear and lost 10 mins

- Auriol (Corolla) had a fire under the dash on the transport stage between SS1 and SS2. He lost 20 sec in penalities. - Auriol went off the road after SS4 but lost no time

- leading Group N entries of Luis Climent (Mit Lancer) and Gustavo Trelles (Mit Lancer) both retired on SS2 althought the reason is unknown

- Harri Rovanperä in the Seat retired on SS5 with engine failure

Current Weather Conditions: - yep, its cold! (between -11C and 0C with occasional snow; cloudy) - Saturday: min -3C, max 0C, snow - Sunday: min 0C, max 0C, sunny

- fresh snow overnight may slow the first competitors tomorrow morning; leading cars sweep the soft snow off the road allowing following cars to gain greater traction. Too little snow however can lead to excess tyre/stud wear.
