New attempt by the OMV Kronos Citroen WRT

The OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team will try a new attack on a top-8- place at the "Rally d'Italia Sardegna". For only then the the commitment in the FIA World Rally Championship is justified. But scoring points is getting more and more difficult this season for Manfred Stohl/Ilka Minor (Austria) and their Swedish-French teammates Daniel Carlsson/Denis Giraudet. The difference between works and private cars is too big.

Statistics speak a plain language

Manfred Stohl has accepted the status quo following eighth place in Argentina. Stohl: "If both drivers of the works teams reach the finish seventh place is the limit." And the OMV driver has the statistics to prove it. While last year privateers had finished 14 times among the top-6 and reached three podium places after six runs they only have eight top-6- places and one podium place to their account in 2007. Stohl: "That clearly show the status quo. But we are nevertheless still motivated. We are working very hard to increase our performance. Which means that we obviously want to reach the top-8 in Sardinia, as well."

Following the break in Argentina Daniel Carlsson will also compete again. In Sardinia the Swede of the OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team will complete his fourth rally this year. It is also the second start in Sardinia, following 2005, for the 30-year-old OMV driver.

We were prepared

OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team Principal Marc van Dalen is clearly aware of the difficult situation: "Following the sensational result by Manfred last year we were aware that 2007 would be a very tough year. But we were prepared. Now it is important that our work should be rewarded by corresponding results so that our motivation doesn't suffer. A success would be of enormous importance for the whole team."

Already EUR 63.000 in the OMV Move & Help account

Since this year's season of the OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team is under the sign of OMV Move & Help, EUR 20 will be donated to OMV Move & Help for each completed special stage kilometre. At the three WRC-runs completed so far, Manfred Stohl/Ilka Minor as well as Daniel Carlsson/Denis Giraudet have already taken in 63.000 Euro. In Sardinia even two times 6.860 Euro (EUR 13.270 overall) are at stake since the OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team will be represented in Sardinia by both Manfred Stohl and Daniel Carlsson. Move & Help is the educational program by OMV for over 35.000 children and youths in cooperation with SOS Children's Village, Caritas and UNICEF.

343 special stage kilometres on 18 SS

The Rally d'Italia Sardegna 2007 will commence on Thursday (May 17) with a showstart at 20.00 in Porto Cervo. 18 special stages with a length of 342,86 kilometres are scheduled from Friday to Sunday (May 18 - 20). The overall length measures exactly 1.061,84 kilometres. The finish line will be crossed on Sunday (May 20) at 14.30 in Porto Cervo. The permanent service park is situated in Olbia.
