Guy Wilks roars in to action Sony Computer Entertainment UK (SCE UK) has signed a new sponsorship deal to support British driver Guy Wilks at this year's 2005 Wales Rally GB (16-18 September).
This will be the second year SCE UK has supported Wilks, one of the country's most successful up and coming drivers. The 24 year old rally star from Darlington will be one of a handful of Brits competing in the home round of the World Rally Championship, and Wilks is looking forward to flying the flag for his country. To support Wilks in his home event the WRC development team from PSP® PlayStation Portable has worked closely with the young driver to create a new design for his helmet. This stunning design integrates a British Lion and the Union Jack on the helmet and will only be warn by Wilks as he roars in to action at this year's Wales Rally GB.
Wilks is currently lying in joint first position in the 2005 FIA Junior World Rally Championship but with no Junior round at this year's Wales Rally GB he will be competing in the WRC event as a private entrant. Driving a Suzuki A6 class through the notorious Welsh stages, Wilks sees this as the perfect opportunity to demonstrate why he is being tipped for the top of world rally.
Guy Wilks said, "Driving in front of your home crowd gives you an amazing buzz. The British supporters are some of the most passionate in the world. Thanks to the support from Sony Computer Entertainment I will be doing my best to give the crowd something to cheer about. I've enjoyed a sneak preview of the new WRC games for PSP and PlayStation 2 and they gave me a reminder of how gruelling and testing the Welsh stages will be. Both games are very realistic and they have got to be the next best thing to actually driving a rally car."
