On a wet and muddy ground, Antony Warmbold and Gemma Price started very well the first leg of the Wales Rally GB by adopting a very good rhythm. At the wheel of their Ford Focus WRC 02, the Germano-British duo was in 16th position, close to the Skoda official drivers and Janne Tuohino.

Antony was completely satisfied with the behavior of his Ford, very efficient on this ultra slipping roads. But during the last special stage, Antony lost approximately 1'30 after a benign mechanical problem. Indeed, the stopper of the oil tank, badly closed, let escape oil on the engine, causing a worrying smoked and making run off the power steering belt. In spite of a little fire start without consequence on the finish of SS7, Antony could get back on time on the service park. The M-Sport mechanics checked the Ford Focus WRC n°20, and Antony Warmbold and Gemma Price will be at the start of the leg 2, first on the road.

Antony Warmbold: " All start very well. The car was very good, and I take a lot of pleasure on this slippery roads. It is a shame to lost time with this small problem, but we do not lose a place. I hope that nothing was damaged on the car. Tomorrow we will continue on the same rhythm."
