The car is willing to go, but I just can't push it myself.´ - Higgins At Service Park Laukaa: `It's like driving on the RAC Rally! The car feels powerless, and we'll have to do something about that at the service.´ - Bell `The jumps are terrible, and the gearbox hasn't got the right ratios.´ - Harkki `We have a defective front shock absorber. SS 6, Harju 2,57km

Notes: - Burns At the start of SS6 (Harju) co-driver Robert Reid said: `Our pace notes are excellent. We did the recce in 1997 to get the character of the event, but if we'd used those we'd have crashed by now. On SS2 the rain was so heavy even the wipers on double speed weren't enough. The grip is not consistent and can be very deceptive.´ - Grönholm At the start of SS6 arrived relaxed and confident. - Nittel `It's difficult getting my confidence right. It's only my third visit, and last year it was dry and the year before I was in GpN. I've no experience of this car in these conditions.´ - Vatanen `The front cars are going at their own pace. I'm not even going to try and go that fast, it's too risky and slippery. But I promise to push when it feels right!´ On SS6 he went off briefly: `I missed a chicane and almost went through someone's garden. We avoided all the obstacles, so it was OK, no damage.´
