OMV BIXXOL Rally Teams step up a gear
The OMV BIXXOL Rally Team with Andrej Jereb and Miran Kacin was able to move up from 13th to 11th day in the FIA Production-Car World Rally Championship on the second day of the "Rally New Zealand". The leg remained problem-free but for a flat tyre on the super stage in Mystery Creek. The OMV BIXXOL Rally Team CZ with Stepan Vojtech and Michal Ernst also improved on Saturday. Despite a slip on SS 5 they reached very good special stage- times at the end of the leg.
With a little luck
Andrej Jereb (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX) is bravely learning to compete on gravel. The Slovenian OMV driver gave a faultless performance on the second day of the Rally New Zealand and moved up two places. Now it is paramount not to risk too much on the final day in order not to endanger the goal of reaching the finish line at his only third gravel rally. Jereb: "I am very satisfied. Only a flat tyre on the super stage cost us a little time. But things are going according to plan. After having lost over four minutes on the top on the first day we only lost a bit more than one minute today. With a little luck on Sunday one WRC-point in the P-Car WRC might still be possible."
Just like on Friday, Saturday also didn't start according to plan for the OMV BIXXOL Rally Team CZ. A tyre damage on the first special stage of the day cost over eleven minutes because the surface was too soft for the car jack. Following this the set-up was changed during the service and things improved instantly. The Czech OMV driver showed his potential by reaching eighth-best time on the thenth special stage. Vojtech: "We are in a difficult situation since we haven't competed in a rally for a month. That means you need some time to find the rhythm once again. But we are on a good way and have to get over the slip on day one and the tyre damage on the second day. I am convinced that we will reach some good SS-times on Sunday."
