Shakedown, Wales Rally, Swansea/Cardiff, December 1st - 3rd

Red Bull Skoda completes a satisfactory test for the final event of this year's WRC

Harri Rovanpera/Risto Pietilainen (FIN) finish ninth in today's shakedown in their Fabia WRC

Andreas Aigner (AUT)/Klaus Wicha (GER) gain valuable experience with four test runs and P11

M. Hirvonen (FIN) and P. Sollberg (NOR) both set exactly the same time in 2:26.6. Marcus Gronholm (FIN) ends up fourth.

One day prior to the start of the final WRC event, the shakedown was run today near Swansea on a stage 3.9 kilometres in length. The conditions for the drivers were good, the roads too were in perfect order.

Both Red Bull Skoda drivers completed a total of four test runs and afterwards were very confident regarding the next three days.

Harri Rovanpera, who so far has an excellent record in Britain, wants to bring the season to a positive end in Wales. "We tried some new things today, and for that reason we hope for a good rally. The stage conditions were alright today, but rain is expected for the rally proper, which would make it very tough."

Red Bull youngster Andreas Aigner actually hopes for rain, giving his reasons: "Due to our experience with the Fabia WRC we know that we are closer to the front runners in difficult conditions, we just need to put this circumstance to good use. The shakedown was all right for me, even though I don't attach too great a value to the posted times. I hope for a positive end of the season."
