At the end of Leg 2 of Rally Finland Angelo and Barbara Medeghini are third of Group N. This is their first race with the new Subaru Impreza, so after a cautious start they get used to the car and they improved their times in the stages.

The rally started under a heavy rain, but today, finally, the day was dry and sunny. Towards the end of the leg, in the late afternoon, there was a big storm, while the drivers were running the longest stage of the day of almost 41 km.

As usual along the route there were hundreds of enthusiastic fans. Today's leg was slightly longer than yesterday, with a total length of 702.61 km, 8 special stages (144,76 km) and was held south of Jyväskylä. It included the longest stage of the rally PS Moksi-Leustu, of 40.96 km and also whta it is considered the most difficult of the race, SS Ouninpohja. This stage used to be 33 km long, fast, with hidden curves and several jumps in a row, running on it was like being on a roller coaster. The organizers for safety reasons decided to divide it in two parts.

Nevertheless it is still one of the most spectaculars and is a hard test for all the drivers.

"I'm very happy" said Angelo Medeghini "It is a tough rally, very fast and is importand and difficult to find the right pace. I entered this race only once in 1996. I'm very satisfied with the Subaru and I'm getting familiar with it. The stage that gave us problems was the long one, because we run it under a heavy rain and the surface got quite slippery. Tomorrow we'll try to keep our position"

The third and last leg of the rally will start tomorrow at 9.00 am and the rally will end at 2.34 pm. There will be 4 special stages, 66.56 timed kilometers.
