Kome Sport in the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship 2005

The Italian couple Angelo Medeghini and Barbara Capoferri entered this year the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship with a Mitsubishi Evolution VIII MR, prepared by Mauro Nocentini (www.mrtbynocentini.it), and they are now getting ready for their third race, Rally Turkey, fourth round of the FIA PCWRC.

They are going to be supported, for the whole championship, by the Kome Consortium. This pool was born in 2002 with 31 associates, in 2003 there were 199 of them and now there are over 700. The main entrepreneurial aim of the pool is a mutualistic one and is addressed to several different kinds of companies (transportation, production, commerce and services) that use industrial vehicles to carry out their work. The first product the Kome Consortium offers is called "Fuel Kome" that runs a series of gas oil tanks for trucks, separate from the usual distribution system, up to now there are 62 working tanks all over Italy. The other service offered by the Consortium to its associates is the leasing of trucks, called "Pay x Kome", a kind of truck rental for all kinds of different activities.

The Consortium works together with the associates and is preparing a series of new services.

Rally is one of the most exciting race among all car races. Technology is at the same level of Formula 1, but in rallies the drivers and the teams are the key to success. The charm of rallies is all in the acrobatic evolutions of the driver on all kinds of situations, tropical forests or polar iced grounds. A world of emotions that embraces spectators.

Spectators are in direct contact with the drivers and the cars, they can hear the noise of the engine from close up and feel the air moved by the passing car. Even if through television or magazines those emotions are still very strong.

World Rally Championship and Formula 1 are the only two FIA world series and the Production Car category, reserved to less technical elaborated cars, is the one that is able to extol the balance between vehicle and driver, technology and creativeness.

The six rounds of the PCWRC that Kome Sport will enter, will be run in as many countries and three different continents, and will meet different cultures and sceneries.

Kome Sport entered two rallies so far with Angelo and Barbara Medeghini. The first one was Rally Sweden, where they arrived second in their category and then Rally New Zealand, where they were obliged to retire at mid of the second leg, because Angelo didn't feel well and even if the new rules allowed him to re-start the next day with a penalty, they didn't because Angelo didn't recover yet.

Angelo and Barbara Medeghini after getting merried started to race together in 1996 in the World Rally Championship with a Subaru Impreza, entering 6 rallies, arriving 9th overall at Rally Catalunya and 10th overall at 1000 Lakes Rally. The next year they entered the Italian Rally Championship with a Subaru Impreza Wrx, and they finished 4th. They also entered a few races of the World Rally Championship, finishing 5th overall at Rally Catalunya and 10th overall at Rally RAC. In 1998 they entered the Italian Rally Championship with a Ford Escort WRC of the Jolly Club, and they finished 5th.

They haven't been racing ever since, this year they return to rally.

Angelo Medeghini didn't enter Rally Cyprus but in the same period tested the car on the gravel roads of Liguria in order to find the right set-up for the difficult and demanding race in Turkey. After that their program provide Rally Argentina, Great Britain and Australia. They will compete with very qualified and expert drivers like the Japanese driver T. Arai, actual leader of the FIA Production Car Championship.
