Styllex Tuning Rally Team passed the first stage in Rally Monte Carlo according to determined purpose and the crew - Jozef Béres and Petr Starý spent the night in the 15th place.
The weather was changeable as it was forecasted. Getting warm in the mountains brought respectable amount of water to asphalt roads. However, the snow still cowers the greater part of the track.
The 5th and 6th special stages were additionally very muddy.
Jozef Béres - The driver: "We drove according to determined speed and we tried to avoid making mistakes what we totally succeeded. It is really necessary to have great amount of courage and accuracy for braking in hard curves over the abysses. I see ability to lay great emphasis to this fact before the second day."
Petr Starý - The co-driver: "We did not make any mistake and we drove with a reserve and steadily speed during the whole day. It was necessary to get used to hard tracks. Many traps in the form of ice and snow while breaking on the wet asphalt kept us in the pressure. We got through this but we will need to choose the limit of safe acceleration to get the better result and to move away from other annoying drivers who are behind us."
Competitive car Hyundai Accent WRC works without any problems today. The crew passed all today's S.S. on the wide winter tires with low number of nails. The mentioned model and blend used 90% of participants what seems to be proper choice. Except of 6th S.S. which was excessive wet and Freddy Loix a Roman Kresta decided to choose intermediate tires.
Marek Silhánek - Head of the Team: "We did not changed the adjustment of the car today and it looked suitable. Also the car had no mistake. We drive with the same tires whole day. We only tore outside nails in the 5th and 6th S.S. what was the proper solution to actual surface of the 5th S.S. Special attention of this solution should be in the 6th S.S., which was very wet. Today result is the 15th place and I think it is very good. The crew did not make any mistake and kept the determined speed what was also commendable."
Peter Koci, Eng. - General Manager of the Team: "Today result is good but I also see some small faults, which should be removed. In spite of that, the priority is to get through the whole competition. The track is very long and difficult. The finish is still far away. But distance after Valimaki is promising. We could go up higher. We will determine exact strategy for tomorrow in the evening."
