FIA World Rally Championship
The Rally Argentina is the seventh round of the FIA World Rally Championship and is the only visit to the Americas made by the world rally competitors. The rally takes place around the industrial city of Cordoba, and consists of high altitude rocky mountain stages. One of the highlights of the rally is the opening day super special where three car's compete head to head in a spectacular which is guaranteed to excite the enthusiastic Latino crowds.
Ford Martini driver Thomas Redstrvm talks about what he expects during the Rally Argentina from May 23 through 26.
AFTER THE ACCIDENT IN KENYA WHEN YOU BROKE YOUR LEG, CAN YOU TELL US HOW YOU HAVE RECOVERED? ''I'm now feeling much better and my leg has healed really well. I've been concentrating very hard on my fitness recently to gain the strength back in my leg. My fitness routine consists of one hour of swimming and one hour in the gym every day, on alternate days instead of the swimming I do a form of water aerobics where I run in the water whilst holding onto a float.''
THE RALLY OF ARGENTINA WILL BE YOUR FIRST RALLY SINCE SWEDEN BACK IN FEBRUARY, HOW ARE YOU APPROACHING THE EVENT? ''I'm looking forward to driving competitively again, it feels like such a long time since I last drove the Focus. I've been driving my road car but that is nothing like the experience of driving in such a strenuous rally as in Argentina. My fitness is back and I am going to give 100% effort to do well for the Ford Martini team.''
SINCE YOU HAVE NEVER COMPETED IN ARGENTINA BEFORE, HAVE YOU ASKED COLIN FOR ANY DRIVING TIPS? ''I've spoken to Colin recently but more so about the development of the Ford Focus and the progression that has been made. My main aim for the rally is to go out and try to score points for the Ford team and also to support Colin as much as I can. I'm really looking forward to driving the car again. Over the past two weeks I've been counting the days down to the rally, just like a child counting down the school days before his summer holiday.''
