Ken Block to skip World RX in Turkey due to concerns over unrest in the country

Ken Block is concerned about rioting in Istanbul.

Ken Block has decided not to race in this weekend's World RX event in Turkey. His reasoning behind the decison involved safety, but in the official release, 'personal reasons' were cited.

Ken Block has only made two starts in World RX this year, finishing third in Norway and fourth in France. This was supposed to be his third race, but those plans have now changed.

The World RX organizers have amped up the security in light of recent unrest in the country. There have been a number of riots in Istanbul, some turning very violent.

There is also the battle on the southern end of the Turkish border as ISIS attacks key border cities. This fighting is quite a distance from the World RX event though.

The FIA has been assured by IMG that the circuit is safe for drivers, teams, media, and fans alike. The event will proceed as planned.
