Outdoor Channel expands Outlaws television coverage.

ALLEN, TX (January 5) -- The Outdoor Channel has expanded its coverage of O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series sprint car racing, the cable television network's Senior Vice President of Programming, Wade Sherman, and series President Ted Johnson announced Monday.

The Outdoor Channel signed a contract to televise 27 O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series races on a tape-delayed basis September 17th, then increased the number to 35 Monday.

"We're extremely pleased to expand our agreement with The Outdoor Channel," Johnson said. "Having more than half of our events televised on this thriving cable network will give us tremendous exposure as our fan base continues to grow. This contract will put us in front of the American public for three years, and we expect this to continue as we grow with The Outdoor Channel."

The Outdoor Channel will tape the February 20-21 event at Manzanita Speedway and televise the event March 31st to start an eight-month run of O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series programming.

The one-hour telecasts will air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Eastern Time between March 31st and November 24th as part of The Outdoor Channel's "Wednesday Night Horsepower" time slot. Most telecasts air within 14 days of each race. Additional replays will be presented Saturdays at 8 a.m. Eastern Time and Thursdays at 10 p.m. Pacific Time.

Among the more notable events The Outdoor Channel will telecast are double-feature events from the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track, Eldora Speedway, Knoxville Raceway, Williams Grove Speedway, Eagle Raceway, Grays Harbor Raceway Park, Billings Motorsports Park and Princeton Speedway.

The cable television network will also televise all three nights of racing during the Duel in the Dakotas at Red River Valley Speedway, the Cleveland Brother Summer Nationals from Williams Grove Speedway, the Harvest Classic at Calistoga Speedway and the Gold Cup Race of Champions from Silver Dollar Speedway.

"The O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series brand is highly recognizable among American race fans," Sherman said. "We are confident this series will be tremendously popular with our audience and is likely to establish itself quickly as our flagship motorsports property."

The Outdoor Channel is a national cable network dedicated to providing the best in traditional outdoor programming to America's sixty million anglers, hunters and sprint car racing fans. The Outdoor Channel is available to almost sixty million homes in the U.S. through a combination of cable networks and satellite providers.
