WORLD OF OUTLAWS GAINS ASSOCIATED PRESS COVERAGE PLANO, TX (January 25) - The Associated Press, the world's premier wire service, will begin distributing World of Outlaws news when the series opens its 18th season at St. Augustine Speedway February 16-18. With sportswriter Mike Bennett of the Argus Leader in Sioux Falls, SD, gathering media support and World of Outlaws Director of Public Relations Richard Day taking the crusade to the news service's high-ranking officials, Associated Press Motorsports Editor Mike Harris announced recently that the AP would begin distributing World of Outlaws news to its subscribers immediately. "I'm really proud to have World of Outlaws news carried on the AP wire," series President Ted Johnson said Wednesday. "It will greatly increase the media outlets we hit, and generate more publicity for the series. "Richard has been working toward this for several years now, and Mike Bennett's help in this crusade was invaluable." More than 16,000 media outlets worldwide - 1,556 daily newspapers and 6,000 radio and television stations in the United States and 8,500 foreign newspapers - subscribe to the Associated Press. World of Outlaws press releases also appear in CompuServe's Motor Sports Forum. Approximately 3 million people subscribe to CompuServe's computer service. WoO*eof
