ALLEN, TX (June 5) -- Sprint cars with engines equipped with aluminum rods are not allowed to race in the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series events, President Ted Johnson announced Tuesday.

Only rods made of steel are allowed in Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series competition.

Any cars using aluminum rods in their engines in Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series races will be disqualified and penalized, effective immediately.

The protesting fee for checking rods will be $350, plus a $50 filing fee.
