Tatnell Passes Eight Cars to Finish 11th at Rolling Wheels

ELBRIDGE, NY (May 28) -- Brooke Tatnell made up for a rough qualifying run in Monday's World of Outlaws Memorial Day event at Rolling Wheels Raceway, driving the #2 Volcano Joe's Coffee Schnee past eight cars on his way to an 11th-place finish.

"We didn't qualify very well," Tatnell said. "We had a few problems in qualifying; some gears broke, so we had to ease up so we didn't blow up the rear end. We actually ran pretty well in our heat race and in the feature. We made some good inroads at a racetrack that's fast and hard to pass on. It's a long way around the top, but we got up there and had a good run. To get from 19th up to 11th is pretty good. All in all, the results on paper weren't as good as they were on the racetrack."

Tatnell's 121.714-MPH lap around the semi-banked, 5/8-mile oval was 1.149 seconds off fast-qualifier Chad Kemenah's pace and only the 19th-fastest in the 33-car field. But the five-time World Series Sprintcar champion qualified for the 25-lap main event with a fifth-place finish in the Third Heat Race.

Tatnell drove "The Black Deuce" past "B" Feature winner Justin Henderson on the opening lap and Kemenah seven laps later. Brooke lost two positions on the 22nd-lap restart, but passed Lucas Wolfe, Tim Shaffer, Terry McCarl and Jac Haudenschild during the final three laps to claim his 12th top-12 finish of the season.
