World of Outlaws Series Off to 11th Annual "Wild Wild Northwest Tour"
The prestigious 44th Annual "Knoxville Nationals" are in the book and winner Danny "The Dude" Lasoski with his $125,000 winners check in hand will head west looking to pick up a few more dollars during the 11th Annual World of Outlaws "Wild Wild Northwest Tour".
Rocky Mountain National Speedway in Commerce City, CO will host the opening race of the Northwest Tour on Tuesday, August 17th as the World of Outlaws Series returns for it's second race at the facility. Last year it was Donny Schatz of Fargo, ND took home the win I 2003 and will be looking for a repeat win on the three-eighths mile dirt oval.
Following the Colorado show, the Outlaws will make their first visit to Billings Motorsports Park near Billings, MT on August 20th and 21st. You can be sure that Lasoski, Schatz, Steve "The King" Kinser, Erin Crocker, Brian Paulus and the rest of the "Mean 16" will be looking to put their name in the record book and the first to win a feature event on the three-eights mile semi-banked clay oval.
After their Billings visit, the Outlaws will continue west for their 9th appearance at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, WA on August 27th and 28th as headliners of the "Big E", a weekend of high speed sprint car action. Opening the action will be a "Northern Sprint Tour" event on Thursday the 19th.
Jason Meyers had a great visit to Grays Harbor in 2003, taking both the Friday preliminary win and Saturday's A-Feature event. While several drivers have tasted victory at Grays Harbor Raceway venue, those victories were on the old three-tenths mile configuration. Work during the off-season has turned the track into a high-banked three-eights mile oval with sweeping corners and fast paced action, a favorite configuration of several World of Outlaws drivers.
Closing out the six-race swing through the Northwest will be a Tuesday, August 31st race at Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, OR. Action is always wheel-to-wheel and wing-to-wing at the quarter-mile bullring. Cottage Grove Speedway was the site of Donny Schatz' first World of Outlaws win back in 1998 and last year it was Kinser showing the rest of the field the fastest way around the track.
While advance ticket sales have been brisk, there are still good seats available at all venues and will be on sale the day of the race.
