Rain Forces World of Outlaws To Postpone Wichita Twister Showdown At 81 Speedway

Park City, KS -- May 6, 2006 -- Mother Nature has struck again. The World of Outlaws Sprint Series was forced to postpone Saturday night's Wichita Twister Showdown at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan., when persistent rain Friday night at the track continued into Saturday morning and was forecast to last well into Saturday night.

This means four of the past five World of Outlaws events have been postponed by rain. After Jac Haudenschild's thrilling victory on Friday night in the Missouri High-Banked Nationals Presented By Weld Wheels at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., the Mean 15 racers will now roll north on Sunday to Huset's Speedway in Brandon, S.D., where last Sunday's season-opener was postponed to tomorrow because of rain.

The string of wet weather started April 21 at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway when the a sudden downpour swamped the pits and forced the opener of the City of Lawrenceburg Sprint Nationals to be postponed to July 7.

On April 29, the World of Outlaws were scheduled to race at historic Knoxville Raceway on Budweiser Night, but non-stop rain for two days led to postponing that event to Oct. 7, meaning the Outlaws will race in the fall at Knoxville for the first time since 1995.

Finally, on April 30, the World of Outlaws were set to help launch Huset's Speedway's 2006 season but more rain led that event to be postponed until tomorrow, where there is no rain at all in the forecast and several Mean 15 racers, including Justin Henderson, Brooke Tatnell and six-time Huset's champion Terry McCarl will be signing autographs at 4:30 p.m.

Following the event at Huset's Speedway, the World of Outlaws Sprint Series begins its first Eastern Swing with events May 12 at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, and the Ohio Challenge II on May 13 at K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio. The series then rolls into Pennsylvania Posse Country for the first time in 2006 for Thunder on the Hill May 16 at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pa. before heading to Western Pennsylvania and the Commonwealth Clash on May 19 at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., that sets the stage for the $50,000 Challenge on May 20 at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Series is brought to the fans across the country by several sponsors and partners, including series sponsors Hoosier Racing Tire and The Outdoor Channel. Promotional Partners include AMB i.t. and The University of Northwestern Ohio. Associate sponsors are ButlerBuilt Motorsports Equipment, Maxim Racing, RacinSoles and Snap-on. Contingency sponsors include DART Machinery, MSD Ignitions and Wrisco Industries.
