Lasoski on having a week off from World of Outlaws racing and going into the Duel in the Dakotas this week:
"For the team the week off was great. The guys got a chance to rest. For me, I would just as well race everyday if I could. We did, however, pack up our stuff and head to Knoxville (Iowa) to go and run a weekly show on Saturday night, but unfortunately we got rained-out. But it was a great time for my guys to get recuperated. We built another race car. We just got things ready for the grind and some of the big races coming up in July and August. It was a good deal. I'm glad to see the World of Outlaws giving us a little bit of a break. They're also going to give us a date off around the first and second of August.
"It's always a big race when we go to Fargo (N.D.). All the guys from the North come down and we all put on a really good race. And the fans up there are just phenomenal. They come from Canada and all over. We really enjoy going there - with the exception of the mosquitoes - because the mosquitoes have their landing lights on when they hit you.
"Fargo is a big half-mile, high-banked track and you haul the mail around there. You really go fast, which makes it one of my favorite places to go."
Team Owner Tony Stewart on wearing the hats of Winston Cup driver and World of Outlaws team owner:
"The biggest thing is just communication. We've got the right people to do the right jobs. I'm really confident in (crew chief) Jimmy Carr and what he does with the race car and Danny during the race. He has really good organizational skills too, with what he does at the shop in keeping the place organized. He makes sure that the things that need to get done are handled. The nice thing is that I'm never more than a phone call away. If they ever have questions, all they ever have to do is call."
Nuts and Bolts.
Lasoski finished 10th in the IROC race held April 5 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. He is now tied for sixth in points with Sam Hornish of the Indy Racing League and Kevin Harvick of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. All three drivers trail point leader Kurt Busch by 24 points with two events remaining - July 12 at Chicagoland Speedway and August 2 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Lasoski runs an Eagle chassis in the World of Outlaws with horsepower supplied by Paul Kistler-built Mopar engines.
