What are your thoughts on winning your third Knoxville Nationals championship and your second for Tony Stewart?
"The first one (Knoxville Nationals) was very special. The second one was the first time I was with Tony Stewart and this is all about him. He has the faith in Jimmy (Carr, crew chief) to run this team, and I couldn't do it without him."
How did you overcome racing with a broken shock?
"I don't know when the shock broke, but the car was vibrating badly. I didn't know what it was, but I made the car really wide. It was just really loose. My restart there at the end was terrible, but we won anyway. Two guys - Tony Stewart and Jimmy Carr - made this happen."
Quote Log - Team Owner Tony Stewart.
What are your thoughts on Danny winning his third Knoxville Nationals championship and your second as an owner.
"It was definitely more gratifying than the first, because this time I was finally there in person. To not only be a part of the final night and see it all first hand, I'm probably more proud of Danny as a driver than I've ever been considering the circumstances of how he had to win it with a bolt missing from the bottom of the left rear shock. That's a pretty important piece of the car to be missing. To win the way he did - flat-out just getting up on the wheel and making it work - that was something that was just really impressive."
When your team won the Knoxville Nationals in 2001, they went on to win the championship. Was the win at Knoxville the boost the team needed to make a run for this year's championship?
"There's a lot of racing left. I'd love to say that this is what'll help us win a championship again. But that race is the most important race of the year to Danny. It's the Daytona 500 of sprint car racing. And no matter what happens the rest of the year, we can hold our heads up knowing that we won the Knoxville Nationals."
