Donny Schatz and the No. 15 Armor All/ParkerStore/J&J team competed in the two-night World of Outlaws Boothill Showdown at Dodge City (Kan.) Raceway Park on Friday and Saturday night. Schatz finished second in Saturday night's 30-lap feature event.
Kraig Kinser and the No. 20 Bass Pro Shops/J.D. Byrider/Maxim notched their 12th top-10 finish of the season with a ninth place finish at Dodge City (Kan.) Raceway Park on Saturday.
With his second place finish, Schatz maintained his lead in the WoO Sprint Series standings, which now is a 50-point margin. Kinser's continues to rank ninth in the season standings.
TSR's WoO Sprint Series teams have a full weekend of racing ahead beginning on Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. On Saturday, the teams will compete at Red River Valley Speedway in Fargo, N.D., and close the weekend on Sunday with an event at Nodak Speedway in Minot, N.D.
POST-RACE QUOTES & NOTES:
Donny Schatz, driver of the No. 15 Armor All/Chevy/ParkerStore/J&J for TSR:
"Sometimes, you have to just take what you get and move down the road. We went to Dodge City hoping to build a winning streak and came out with a second-place finish. When you have a two-night program, there are a lot of chances on the track. Hopefully, by the feature, you are operating at your best. On Friday, we weren't able to get better, but on Saturday we did. I think we had a great chance before it rained. That's how things go. The track personnel worked hard to get the track back to where we could race on it again. Unfortunately, we came up one spot short.
"We're heading back home (to North Dakota) this weekend and have three nights of racing. I'm looking forward to it and I know the Armor All crew (Rick Warner, Shane Bowers and Eric Prutzman) will be ready, too. We'd like to put on a great show for all the fans and see if we can get back to victory lane."
Kraig Kinser, driver of the No. 20 Bass Pro Shops/Chevy/J.D. Byrider/Maxim for TSR:
"The Bass Pro Shops team had a decent weekend in Dodge City. Things started well on Friday, but we didn't have the kind of feature we wanted. The guys (Mike Cool, Steve Swenson, and Bob Curtis) put a fast car under me right away on Saturday night and we turned the third-fastest lap in qualifying. We were strong in the heat race and got ourselves into the dash. That's one of our goals each night - to make the dash. It gives you a chance.
"It's unfortunate we couldn't get the entire feature in before the rain. The track was in really good shape and I think we were going to be able to move forward. Everyone did a great job after the rain delay to get the track back to where we could finish the race. We got another top-10 and now it's off to North Dakota for three nights of racing. If we can keep qualifying and getting into the dash races like we have been, I think we'll be battling for wins in the future."
