FORT WORTH-DALLAS (Sept. 27, 2000) - Steve Kinser is often referred to as "The King" of sprint car racing. His 16th career Pennzoil World of Outlaws championship is well within reach. But winning races is on his mind as Kinser gets ready for the O'Reilly Texas Showdown Thursday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.

Kinser's green Quaker State Maxim sprint car has been the model of consistency on the 2000 Pennzoil World of Outlaws nationwide circuit of dirt tracks. Only six times out of the first 50 races did Kinser not finish in the top ten. This has resulted in a sizeable point lead. But winning is still the most important ingredient.

"The championship is very important to our Quaker State team," the winner of nearly 450 World of Outlaws races said. "But we still want to win races. We are looking forward to coming to the Dirt Track and winning for the first time there. There is $20,000 on the line for the winner, that's what we want."

Kinser will be challenged by the top sprint car drivers in the world including Danny Lasoski, winner of March's Southern Bleacher Classic, the speedway's inaugural dirt track event. Defending champion Mark Kinser, Sammy Swindell, Stevie Smith, Joey Saldana, Dale Blaney, Johnny Herrera, Jac Haudenschild and Texan Gary Wright will battle Kinser for one of the richest two-night payoffs of the season.

Free pit passes are available to fans who have race tickets and obtain a coupon at any of 300 participating O'Reilly Auto Parts outlets. Participating outlets are listed on www.texasmotorspeedway.com. Tickets are currently on sale at the speedway ticket office, by calling (817) 215-8500 or at the speedway website.
